Starlink is continuing to expand its service reach, and new information seems to show that customers in Nigeria are now set to receive the first of the user terminals for SpaceX’s satellite internet service ahead of a full-scale launch in the country.
SpaceX has begun shipping some Starlink pre-orders to customers in Nigeria, as part of a testing program ahead of the service’s launch in the country, according to a user who shared a screenshot of their order information on Reddit (via @Nathan Owens).
According to the post, the company has set Starlink’s service fee at $43 per month for residential users, with the hardware cost set at $600.

“In advance of launching services in Nigeria, the Starlink team is ready to process your order as part of a testing phase,” SpaceX wrote in a message about the program.
SpaceX’s plans to launch Starlink in Nigeria were first reported in July, saying the company would make the service operational by August. The Nigerian government approved Starlink in the country in May.
Earlier this year, SpaceX launched Starlink in the first few African countries after CEO Elon Musk said that the satellite internet service was “coming soon” to the continent.
African countries where SpaceX has already launched Starlink include Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia. Additionally, SpaceX is seeking Starlink approval in Tanzania by 2023.
