Truth Behind Kenya Airports Authority Hiring Over 2,600 on Permanent Terms

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), on Saturday, April 8, warned Kenyans of a job poster announcing over 2,600 vacancies.

In a statement, KAA indicated that the job poster was fake and misleading to the public.

The poster promised applicants permanent and pensionable jobs in various sectors in the aviation sector.

Market Executives, Grounds Persons, Security Officers, Ticketing Instructors, Cargo Load Controllers and Record Keepers were included in the poster.

Others listed in the job poster included Front Office Managers, Motor Technicians, Climate Advisors, IT Technicians, and Clearance and Forwarding personnel.

The poster also had other simple jobs, including painters, Tea Girls, Data Entry Clerks, and Social Workers.

According to the fake job poster, Kenya Airports Authority sought to hire Degree, Diploma and Certificate holders.

Form four holders were also targeted in the fake job poster, which duped applicants into submitting their applications to an email which did not belong to Kenya Airports Authority.

"Kindly disregard any job postings that are not shared from our official social media pages, or website," Kenya Airports Authority stated.

"Do not be conned!" KAA further warned applicants.

On January 31, A study undertaken by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA), a Research company on Disinformation and the Role of Big Tech in Kenya, indicated that Kenyans implored the government to launch educational campaigns to help people find and report disinformation and fake news.

"Kenyans want platforms to put reasonable restrictions in place on what people can and cannot post as well as have a better review process to look at content, but they also do not want the government to overreach," TIFA stated.

Following the report, other government agencies warned Kenyans over fake job posters duping and conning unsuspecting applicants.

However, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation informed Kenyans to share information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
