Disagreements with partners in construction of North-South corridor being reconciled – minister
YEREVAN, May 30. /ARKA/. After the start of work on the road section that stretches from Sisian to Kajaran, which is part of the North-South Transport International Corridor (ITC), some disagreements have arisen with international donor partners on certain issues, which are now being reconciled, Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan said Monday.
"This slows down the work. However, while the process is going on, we managed to hold a tender for the Kajaran – Agarak section. We will finalize it in the coming days, and the winning company will be announced," the minister told reporters in the National Assembly.
He said the ministry is ready to announce a tender for the construction of the Kajaran Tunnel as well.
According to him, the construction of Shamb – Ltsen road is completed. Work on Tatev-Lotsen road is also almost completed.
The North-South International Transport Corridor is an element of the transport framework in Eurasia. It connects with the majority of latitudinal transport corridors used for international transportation of goods in the Euro-Asian communication.
The role of the North-South ITC increases significantly in the context of the formation of new logistics and the recovery of international transport and logistics chains after the shocks of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Providing the shortest freight transportation distances between the Eurasian Economic Union countries and South Asia, East Africa and the Middle East, the North-South ITC provides the logistics choice of one of three delivery routes (Western, Eastern, Trans-Caspian), each of which has capacity reserves. -0-
