Jumia says it will invite brands and corporate organisations to advertise on the platform. CEO Sam Chappatte, who launched Jumia Advertising Services in Kenya, said the e-commerce firm intends to open up its extensive logistics network to third parties. He said 20 percent of active internet users in Kenya are on Jumia each month.
Jumia launched in 2012 in Nigeria and is now in eleven African countries. It is the continent's largest e-commerce platform with more than 5,000 staff and aims to create 3 million direct and indirect jobs on the continent by 2025.
Customer shipping fees have reduced by over 50 percent. Jumia said it had 1.1 billion page views in 2019, with 3 million unique visitors every month.
