1. Muhammed Jaffer, Pro Gas
Muhammed Jaffer is the brains behind Pro Gas.
The company has branches across the country, according to its website.
Jaffer is the founder of Africa Gas and Oil (AGOL) which owns Proto Energy Limited and sells Pro Gas.

According to Forbes, the 74-year-old also invested $35 million (KSh 4 billion) in MJ Group, which handles cargo services at Mombasa port.
Established in the 1990s, the company has since grown to a KSh 16.3 billion conglomerate.
2. Ahmed Hashi
Hashi owns Hashi Energy Limited, previously known asHashi Empex Limited.
Hashi has been in the Kenyan market for over three decades.
Hashi began business as a kerosene distributor for Chevron Kenya and supplied the commodity to consumers across East Africa.
It later ventured into the gas business through the Hashi gas brand.

"Our brand of LPG trades under the name Hashi Gas in 6 kg, 13 kg and 35 kg cylinder sizes," he said.
3. William Ruto
Deputy President William Ruto owns Kitengela Gas, according to documents tabled in parliament by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
In September 2021, the CS listed properties and businesses which he claimed were owned by Ruto and protected by state security agents.
Matiang'i said the Kitengela Gas company was allocated six police officers to provide round the clock security.
4. Raila Odinga
In December 2021, ODM leader Raila Odinga revealed he sold a German car he once owned to raise KSh 12,000, which he used to start the East Africa Spectre, a private company in Kenya that supplies gas cylinders to oil companies.
"The entire machinery was being sold at KSh 12,000, which I didn’t have. My salary was only KSh 2,000, so I sold my car to raise the cash and that is how I started,” he said.

The former prime minister said he acquired machines from an Indian entrepreneur who was operating in Jinja, Uganda but had carted his machines to Kenya after being chased away by the Iddi Amin's regime.
“I was teaching at the University of Nairobi when an Indian friend who was a technician told me that one of his friends had just been sent away from Uganda and had uprooted all his machines from Jinja to a yard at Parklands and was selling them before quickly travelling to Great Britain," he narrated.
He set base in Industrial Area as the business expanded.
"Having worked in a cylinder manufacturing firm in Germany, I had an idea. I took samples from Agip, retooled and started manufacturing the gas cylinders," he divulged.
5. Peter Macharia Kariuki
Kariuki is the Jamii Gas brand owner, as reported by Inooro TV.
The company is headquartered in the capital Nairobi and supplies gas across the country.

Largest oil companies in Kenya
